Why “Designing in 5D”? The concept of “Designing in 5D” emerged from my drive to bring a new depth to the design process, addressing not only the physical elements of a space but also how design impacts clients’ lives in a holistic way. A few years ago, I felt something was missing. While clients loved the finished designs, the journey wasn’t as smooth as I wanted it to be. I knew we could make the experience better.
To get to the heart of what was working—and what wasn’t—I reached out to several clients at various stages in our process. Their honest feedback, though sometimes hard to hear, gave me a clear path forward. With their input in mind, I created a process that brings both practicality and inspiration to our projects. This experience also inspired me to go on a retreat to refine and deepen what would eventually become the “5D” approach.
Breaking Down the Five Dimensions of Design So, what exactly does “Designing in 5D” mean? The five dimensions are

discovery, planning, visualization, support, and transcendence—each adding a layer to the design journey that enhances the experience and makes it easier for clients to visualize, plan, and enjoy their dream spaces.
- 1D – Discovery: It all begins with our “discovery consultation.” In this one-hour meeting, I learn about you, your
space, and your goals. This step sets the stage for a tailored design plan that reflects your needs and lifestyle.- 2D – Planning: Next, we dive into the practical details with 2D plans, measurements, and layouts. Here, we consider not only style but also how to make the space functional, so that your environment supports your day-to-day life.
- 3D – Visualization: Bringing 2D plans to life with 3D mock-ups, we allow you to experience your design virtually.

- You get to see and feel the fabrics, finishes, and layouts before anything is finalized, boosting confidence in each decision.
- 4D – Support: This dimension addresses the emotional journey of remodeling or building. From walkthroughs to weekly meetings with contractors, we’re there every step of the way to make sure the project moves smoothly.
- 5D – Transcendence: The final dimension is about leaving a lasting impression. We don’t just finish a project; we create a space that clients can enjoy for years. Our goal is to craft a home that enhances their life long after the last pillow is perfectly placed.
“Designing in 5D” represents more than a new process—it’s a fresh approach to client-centered, holistic design. This podcast is my way of sharing this journey with you, offering insights and stories that reveal the beauty of creating spaces that truly resonate.
