Although we work on all types of projects, new build spec homes are some of our favorites. A “spec house” is a home built by a builder on land they own, with the goal of selling a move-in-ready home to an interested potential homeowner. We love getting to work on spec homes, as we can exercise our creative minds and produce something new, fun, and fresh. With a builder as our client, the process looks a bit different since we don’t know who will end up purchasing the home and loving on the space. It’s kind of like going on a blind date, since we are unsure who will be the end user.
We’ve decided to use this blog to take you on a virtual walkthrough of a spec home we designed with Kruse Development. Let’s check it out!
Let’s start with the exterior and front entry – the first thing you see when arriving at and while entering a home. We love the exquisite blue color contrasting the lighter stone on the exterior and the way the entry just graciously invites you into the home.
Right off the entry is a home office. In here, we incorporated mixed metals, a simple but elegant light fixture… and do we even need to mention how remarkable the casework is? The storage and accessory display possibilities are just about endless!
Next, we enter into the kitchen… we love the simplicity of the black and white contrasted cabinets. We also brought in some subtle warm tones through the backsplash, as well as the coordinating floating shelves and vent hood detail. Also – notice how we incorporated extra long pulls on the upper cabinets and base cabinet drawers? It gives the illusion of taller cabinets, and overall makes the room look taller too!
Now, we head into the stunning living room. What is your favorite feature? The mantle that matches the flooring? The marble tile that spans the front of the fireplace? The storage for games, movies, and family mementos? Whatever your favorite aspect may be, this space is sure to create some wonderful family memories!
The simple and classy Primary Suite is up next! Check out the coffered ceiling and gorgeous bathroom fixtures!
No detail went unnoticed in this project! These two secondary bedrooms were perfect spaces for accent wall features… do you like the painted wood slat wall as much as we do?
Lastly, we head down to the Lower Level – entertainment central! As if one living room upstairs wasn’t enough, we added a whole other family room space downstairs, equipped with a mini bar and ample space for hosting guests.
We hope you enjoyed this walkthrough of the Kruse Harris Plan. If you enjoyed this type of blog – walking through our completed projects – let us know! We’d love to show you more of what we’ve been working on! If you have any questions, or other topics for us to cover in a future blog, let us know!
Have a wonderful week!
