Make Sure Your 2021 Starts Off On The ‘Bright’ Foot With Jewel Tone Colors!

Go Bold In Your Home

There is no need to be reserved with your use for color when it comes to incorporating jewel tones. Don’t be afraid to incorporate daring, or large-scale items into your décor selections in those jewel tones. If your décor is currently mostly neutral, adding a jewel tone accent pillow just won’t do—consider committing to something that pushes your design boundaries, like adding color in an accent chair or a ceiling color to your design to make your color selections look more intentional. Or, if floor-to-ceiling is your thing, pick out a daring wallpaper inspired by your favorite jewel tone and let the walls do the talking.

Jewel Tone Colors Come In Many Tones

When I think of jewel tones, what comes to mind is sapphire blue, ruby red, and amethyst purple. These colors fall into the category of jewel tones, but there are so many more options to choose from. This palette is a contrast of intense colors you can wear with neutrals or color-blocked to beam brightly against the stark backdrop of winter and spark the perfect color storm. If you’re not into deep-colored jewel tones – don’t get scared off just yet! You can go with softer tones like light turquoise, aqua, jade or pair them with more neutral colors.

Textures, Metals, and Fabrics – Oh My!

When it comes to a jewel tone color palette, it’s not only the color that matters, the fabric you choose can make or break your décor. Selecting furniture in a velvet or silk will make your pieces shine and will look even more luxurious, while woven fabrics can make your colors look more muted. Mixing your jewel tones decor items with mixed metals is something we love to do also! Check out this beautiful amethyst purple Bernhardt accent chair paired with this brushed gold desk.

Be Ready To Commit

Introducing jewel tones into your space is making a big style statement, but go with it! Take the mindset of “go big or go home” and commit by giving these colors the environment to become there own. Pair bold with bold, jewel tone colors work best when they have the ability to play off another bold color. Don’t just use one shade of color in a space, choose several shades to create playful unity.

Use Neutrals To Soften

If you make the room too bold, it could run the risk of becoming overwhelming to the eye. Once you have your main colors selected, add touches of neutrals to provide a space for the eye to rest like in the image below. The neutral rug, light walls play with the pop of jewel tones in the book covers and in the dining chairs.
