Creating A Harmonious Home

When you think of your home, do you feel thoughts of peace and tranquillity or do you get overwhelmed with stress? Having a home that emits harmonious vibes is vital to living a more peaceful and stress-free life. You may be wondering, what does it mean when a home is harmonious? To us, a harmonious home is one that when you walk in, it feels like you have taken in a deep breath of fresh air. If your home doesn’t feel like this, don’t worry, you are not alone. We are here to give helpful tips to make your home feel like the peaceful sanctuary you deserve.

The biggest challenge that many of us face in our homes is unnecessary clutter. Whether it is clutter from the hustle and bustle of everyday life or your living room has become your new storage space, there are many solutions to fixing this issue. One of our favorite ways to bring more organization to a space is through the addition of a console or bookshelf. At Elizabeth Erin Designs, we carry many vendors that offer beautiful storage solutions that would be the perfect addition to your space. If your space is needing more than just a furniture piece to solve organizational issues, you may consider adding built-in storage. Adding built-ins is a beautiful and customized way to reduce clutter. We work with many contractors to help our clients design the perfect storage solution for their homes. Still feeling stressed in your home after addressing organizational issues? There are still a few more ways to introduce harmony into your home. It is important to ask yourself these questions: Does my home really reflect who I am? Do the things I have on display bring me joy? When others come into my home, do they feel at peace? If the answer to these questions is yes, then congratulations, you have successfully made yourself a harmonious home. But, if you answered no to any of those questions, dig deeper and get to the source of your dissonance. Find out what your harmony looks like and make your space be a reflection of that. Display items in your home that make you happy or remind you of peaceful memories.

If you are someone who really enjoys nature, find ways to bring the outdoors in. Introducing greenery is one of our favorite ways to promote harmony in a space. Don’t have a green thumb? Not a problem! We carry many faux plant options that are the perfect addition to any space. Never underestimate the impact natural elements can have on your space, big or small. Bringing in natural elements doesn’t mean you have to bring a tree into your home. You can still accomplish the same vision through the incorporation of natural colors, the addition of organic shapes and forms, and strategically placed materials.

Now let’s talk color! Color is very important when it comes to creating a harmonious home. It is sometimes easy to get carried away with color and go overboard, which can really mess with your emotions. Refining your homes color palette is an easy way to bring the feelings of harmony back into your home. With color, consistency is key. The main color of your space should be a neutral shade that can be used throughout your entire home. Then to add in more personality and visual interest, add accent colors through artwork or accessories. Some of our favorite colors to use as accents in a harmonious color palette are muted blues and greens. These colors are known to promote feelings of tranquility and relaxation – vital elements to creating a harmonious home.

Make it your goal this season to make your home a space that makes you happy and comforted. We challenge you to find out what your harmony is and reflect that back into your home. Need help?
