How to Sell your Home: Pivotal To-Do Items Before Listing

Are you looking to sell your home soon, or in the upcoming months! There is never a better time than the present to get prepared or moving towards the idea of listing your home. Even though we highly recommend home staging (check out Why We are So Passionate about Home Staging for any home on the market), there are still other things/little projects you can do around the house that will help you get the most bang for your buck! Also, throughout this blog, I will link back to previous EED blogs to give you the utmost info! Good luck!

First and foremost, it is crucial that you find a professional realtor who will put you, your family, and your needs FIRST! Research their experience – especially in your neighborhood, or with homes at the same price point as yours. If you need high-quality recommendations, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at EED – we have worked with quite a few realtors/listing agents in the industry and would be happy to connect you with someone amazing!

Secondly, we cannot recommend painting enough! Whether it be interior touchups, or full-on interior and exterior re-painting, new neutral colors can go a long way. It is especially important to repaint if you have bright or visually “loud” colors throughout your home – while those are super important to incorporate in a home for personal touch while you live there, that could be a turn off to potential buyers. For new colors check out Neutral Paint Colors We Swear By – Sherwin Williams and Exterior Paint Colors: What’s Right for Your Home?

Next, we recommend investing a few new things to include with the house that could be perks for potential homebuyers. This could include new flooring, a backsplash upgrade, cabinet paint, new appliances, etc. Anything that can 1. Increase the value of the home and 2. make your home more visually attractive, is a win!

Up next, the task everyone dreads: deep clean everything! Especially behind appliances, moldings and vents, and other hard to reach places where gunk can get trapped and never touched. Turn on some music, throw some muffins or yummy cookies in the oven to look forward to when you’re done, and get going on your dreaded cleaning tasks!
