Elizabeth Erin Designs is proud to be a member of the Home Builders Association of Greater Des Moines. At its core, the HBA “is made up of local builders, remodelers and suppliers who in cooperation with our associates and affiliate council members have committed to supporting the industry while practicing their trade craft with the upmost integrity in the Central Iowa communities we serve.”
The HBA hosts various “shows” each year, including the Home & Remodeling Show, the Tour of Remodeled Homes and the HomeShowExpo – which we will be participating in this summer! One council Jodi is especially proud to be apart of is the Professional Women in Building Council of Des Moines (PWB). The PWB provides support for women in the building industry and other skill-related trades through mentoring, education, networking, and scholarships. They fundraise every year for these scholarships by way of their Annual Phone-a-thon. Then, usually around March of every year they collect applications for these scholarships. One of our assistant designers, Marah, has been appreciative to receive the PWB scholarship twice in her college career.
“I am seeking a Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design from the University of Northern Iowa. I was honored to receive a scholarship from the Professional Women in Building in both 2019 and 2021. These scholarships helped pay for some of my tuition and other things like books and supply kits for my design classes. The generosity of the PWB and their donors has not only helped me but also many other students over the years. The PWB is a great resource for any high school or college students interested in seeking a career in various skilled building trades.”
